How many of you, as little munchkins back then, literally dreamed about getting married flamboyantly in a palace like a queen frolicking about in her red lehenga and lavish jewels? A lot of you, we bet!

Well, this modern day Rajkumari’s wedding that we’re going to take you through this time was exactly that! Anmol Punjabi tied the knot with Indian-born Emirati cricketer Chirag Suri this year at the plush properties of Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur and boy, their wedding photos broke the internet!

While their soiree’s grandiose left everyone agape, the cynosure was unquestionably the bride’s avant-garde wedding looks. In fact, both the bride and groom along with their families went all glamorous in their bespoke couture taking the wedding fashion bar a notch above. And while their looks are worth crushing over, the wedding decor was rather minimal and elegant to let the royalty of the palace outshine!

Let’s dive right in!

About The Couple

Their Tale

Anmol and Chirag met each other back in December 2014. She was studying in Boston at that time and had come back to Dubai for the winter break when they coincidentally met at a night out. The two are very family and career oriented individuals and as a couple too, and enjoy exploring the world together the most.

The Proposal

Knowing that Anmol has a thing for picturesque views and wanted a special proposal, Chirag made sure that he proposed to her exactly that way. The bride quotes, “We were on a trip together in Turkey and at the end of the trip he flew us to Santorini, Greece just for a day. I had a feeling that something was fishy but, I’d never say no to extending a holiday even for a day! After checking in, he rushed me to get ready to “explore the city” before the sun sets. As we sat in the car, the tour guide took us to a mountain top. As I got off and started walking towards the peak of the mountain, I could hear my favorite song “fly me to the moon by Frank Sinatra” playing in the background and it was then that I realized Chirag was going to propose to me!”

Understanding her fine taste of a classic and clear design in terms of rings, Chirag designed the ring himself which of course, Anmol absolutely loved!

The Details

Wedding Planning & Details

Anmol knew she wanted an intimate yet grand destination wedding which she had always visualized in a romantic castle in Italy. After exploring loads of locations in Greece, Italy, Turkey & India, it was the Umaid Bhawan Palace that struck a chord with her heart.

The duo chose to work with YOLO Entertainment who breathed life into the couple’s wedding vision in a polished and majestic manner. The Wedding Journals Of India further captured this palatial gala in timeless and stunning frames!

'Rajkumari Saheba Ki Mehndi'- The Mehndi

A pastel color themed poolside affair primarily marked with lemon yellow colors, the mehndi ceremony was a super effervescent affair that was accentuated in lush greens and florals.

Anmol's Mehndi Look

Anmol opted for an absolutely chic look for the day and slipped into a Shantanu & Nikhil crop top and skirt set. While the Ivory and gold bustier was accentuated with ruffled sleeves, the pastel-hued embellished skirt caught everyone’s eye!

She further teamed up her outfit with an elaborate choker and jhumka set crafted in uncut diamonds and sapphires. The ace hair & make-up artist Shindesu gave her dual-toned smokey eyes with a nude lip while he tied up her long tresses in a sleek bubble ponytail.

Chirag's Mehndi Look

Chirag coordinated with his lady love in a Faraz Manan kurta and jacket set with the jacket fashioned in pastel hues of pink and blue.

'Sangeet Raas Leela'- The Sangeet Night

A royal evening themed ‘light and fire’, the sangeet night was an all lit and elegant soiree with fire areas and tea candles throughout the space. Bling and light with hearty florals completely drenched the palace’s front lawns making it all look a sight to behold.

The groovy sangeet evening continued until the wee hours of the night followed by a glam after party at the Marwar Hall.

Couple Looks

Both Anmol and Chirag went strikingly glamorous and coordinating in their heavily embroidered wine Manish Malhotra ensembles. While Chirag looked dapper in a bandhgala, Anmol looked a stunner in her crop top and skirt set.

While she accessorized her look with a huge uncut diamond choker set, Shindesu further elevated her look by lending her a bold vibe. Smokey shimmery eyes teamed up with a nude lip and gorgeously tucked sleek open hair completed her look flawlessly.

'The Royal Vivah'- Pheras

The next day kick started with a haldi ceremony and Gari Pooja which was followed by the lunch and the baraat leading up to the sundowner pheras.

The Bardari Lawns of the palace were bedecked in, as Anmol says, “Maharaja Maharani” vibes with a focus on deep hues of reds, greens, maroons, and blues. Her bridal entry, for that matter, was undoubtedly the highlight of the wedding.

With a long 10 meter veil trailing behind, Anmol walked down the aisle that was lined with royal drummers on both sides while two flute players at the entrance door played a hearty symphony.

Anmol's Wedding Look

Anmol looked breathtakingly regal and exquisite on her wedding day; exactly like a royalty! She slipped into a stunning marsala Sabyasachi lehenga which she accessorized with glorious jewels done in uncut diamonds and emeralds.

She went gorgeously OTT with her jewellery which was a brilliant mix of an oversized princess neckpiece, an elaborate satlada, matching earrings and matha patti, and a pretty nath!

While Shindesu gave her a flower accentuated braid, he gave her subtly flushed look coupled with light shimmery eyes and a pale pink lip.

Chirag's Wedding Look

Chirag looked like a royal prince in his Raghavendra Rathore sherwani laden with embroideries. He further paired up his ensemble with cream & gold safa and a tasteful haar.

'Umaid Bhawan Palace Ball'- The Reception

The pheras were subsequently followed by a ‘black-tie’ themed reception for which the plushness of the palace was further highlighted with flowers, perfect lighting, and fireworks.

Couple Looks

While Chirag looked handsome and crisp in a classic black Ajjay Mehrra tuxedo, Anmol looked all princessy in a dusty rose pink couture gown from Sophie Couture. While the gown was replete with feather detailing, enchanting diamond jewels further elevated her look by multifolds.

Shindesu completed Anmol’s contemporary look with a high and sleek ponytail, smokey eyes, and a light pink lip.

Shopping Tips From The Bride

  • A helpful tip would be to map out the store location of each designer and plan your day accordingly to maximize your schedule. Don’t forget to take appointments with the designers!
  • Don’t go all out in buying everything at once for your trousseau. Fashion and trends keep changing so take your time in collecting your wedding trousseau.
