About The Couple

Their Tale

Shaivi & Oscar met each other years ago while he was a student and exploring his inner passion for food and culinary at Sukhadia’s—Shaivi’s family business. She often frequented and worked there on her weekends and Oscar learned the Indian culture and the Gujarati language and soon became a part of their family. The two soon connected and discovered their mutual love for adventures, the culinary arts, and action thrillers on Netflix and have been inseparable ever since!

The Proposal

One late January ’18 night, Oscar had planned to take Shaivi to New York City for an evening welcome gala for his school. However, when they approached the venue, Central Park’s Tavern on the Green, a horse drawn carriage took them on a night time stroll through the park.

As they reached the end of a cobblestone pathway through Central Park’s famous Bethesda Fountain, they stumbled upon Bow Bridge which was lit up with hundreds of tea lights while Shaivi’s family and closest friends hid in the bushes nearby. At the end of the bridge was a Mariachi band playing a romantic Mexican prelude and in the middle was a rose petal heart with the words, “Marry Me”. It was then that Oscar got down on his knees and before anyone knew it, #ShaiviWonAnOscar !
