About The Couple

Their Tale

Neev and Tanya met each other at his aunt and uncle’s anniversary dinner and the moment he saw her, he couldn’t take his eyes off her. “And then Tanya walked in, looking like everything I’d ever dreamed of. I knew at this moment, this is it, this is her! Don’t mess it up,” Neev recalls.

After the dinner, the two along with Neev’s cousin decided to crash a wedding that his friend was attending and it was there that they got to talking and it just clicked. They always knew they wanted to spend their lives together and the things progressed swiftly from meeting each other’s parents to both the families meeting and the two finally getting hitched.

The Proposal

Neev has always been writing Tanya handwritten letters expressing his feelings and that’s exactly how he planned to propose to her. It was on their anniversary when they had planned on celebrating in an intimate and low key manner where Neev would cook dinner and they would watch a nice rom-com together. While heading to the kitchen he asks her not to come out of the room and hands her a letter asking her to open it in 10 minutes.

Tanya adds, “I open the letter and start making my way through. In typical fashion Neev is hitting all the right notes & I feel the tears welling up as I reach the end and just as in the letter where he asked me out, he finishes with “So Tanya….” Confused, I head to the door. As I open it I hear ‘Can’t take my eyes off you’ by Frankie Valli, I look out and I see Neev, on one knee holding out the ring.”

The Details

Roka Ceremony & Engagement

After an intimate proposal in December 2018, the couple in March 2019 hosted an intimate Roka ceremony at Tanya’s home followed by a glam engagement bash at the Trident, Mumbai.

From Neev wearing Rajesh Pratap Singh to Tanya slipping into Sabyasachi & Gaurav Gupta, the duo donned stunning looks for both the ceremonies and literally took the internet by a storm.

Wedding Planning & Details

The couple and their families decided to plan the entire wedding by themselves as it would make the entire wedding one special & personal experience to cherish for a lifetime. And while the couple can’t stop reminiscing about the time they spent planning everything, we can’t stop crushing over even the tiniest of details.

With Jehangir, his mom Havovy, and Sujeet from Afreen Wedding Services decking up their wedding in the most flamboyant manner, the wedding decor is sure to give you truckloads of pin-worthy inspiration!

While Naman Verma and his team framed every bit of this wedding absolutely aesthetically, Apeksha Maker from The House of Pixels made sure that their portraits spoke of a class and gorgeousness that’s unmatched!

Anand Karaj

For how Neev wanted an intimate beach wedding and Tanya had always envisioned a big Bombay wedding, the couple decided on having a Gurudwara wedding a month before their actual wedding with just their families.

Held at the Dhan Pothohar Gurudwara, the ceremony was one serene affair drenched in surreal hues and heavenly vibes.

Tanya's Look

The couple for their Anand Karaj coordinated in Chikankari outfits in subdued hues. While Neev donned a Rajesh Pratap Singh ensemble, Tanya slipped into a pristine Tarun Tahiliani anarkali in nude pink with a scalloped tulle dupatta which she paired up with her mom’s diamond earrings encrusted with rubies.

What further elevated her look was the pearl & ruby earring that she intended to wear as a passa but ended up wearing as a maang-tikka. *Styling game on point!*

Deepa Verma, who dolled up Tanya for all her ceremonies gave her a neat low bun with subtle yet flushed makeup. And for as tiny her red bindi was, it stitched up her look equally gracefully!

Mehndi Ceremony

Hosted at the bride’s home on the terrace, the sundowner mehndi kick-started on a traditional note with the ladies singing the ritualistic wedding songs to a Punjabi dholki. The function later turned into an upbeat groovy party with dhol, Punjabi music, and DJ Nanok playing his retro English set.

Choosing to go contemporary chic with the decor, while colorful flowers and fairy lights accentuated the entire space, the bright-hued and blingy bridal seating stole the show. Curated with a gorgeous pink seating beneath a vibrantly exquisite floral arch with a glimmering backdrop made with cascading strings, it undoubtedly was the highlight!

Tanya's Look

Tanya, for the mehndi opted for an exquisite Kshitij Jalori spearmint brocade saree that he made into a gorgeous lehenga for her. She teamed it up with an old rose hued dupatta made in real zari and a striking Roopa Vohra set done in uncut diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and south sea pearls.

Minimal makeup, red bindi, and straight open hair completed her look flawlessly, also making it a favorite for Neev.

Neev's Look

Neev perfectly twinned with her lady love in a Kunal Rawal kurta that was done in exactly the same hue as Tanya’s lehenga! The two looked absolutely adorable together!

The Glam Sangeet

A joyous night of dance performances, jazzed up vibes, and Sukhbir with his dholwalas and DJ Arjun Shah bedazzling everybody, the sangeet at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai was one crazy celebration.

What further elevated the mood of the evening was the glamorous decor especially, the ceiling festooned with blingy gold strings and bulbs.

Couple Looks

While Neev looked absolutely dapper in his midnight blue deconstructed Kunal Rawal sherwani, Tanya went all glam in her voguish Gaurav Gupta ensemble.

A white geometric waterfall lehenga with hints of blush pink, the skirt cliched at the waist and extended into an asymmetrical multi-layered degrade bottom. Laden with glimmering embellishments, her outfit screamed opulence and class.

She further teamed up her outfit with dainty diamond baubles by Begani Jewels and had her luscious tresses left open.

The Wedding

The pastel-hued all floral wedding ceremony was straight out of a dream with the decor boasting of an elegant medley of traditional and modern. For the mandap, a mirrored dome structure was curated bedecked in varied blooms in distinctive hues of soft pinks, fuschia, and lavender. Accompanied with antique vessels, the mandap looked complete.

The ceremony was subsequently followed by an after party that had a laid-back and chiller vibe to it. Complete with hearty speeches by family and friends, and Paris House Addict creating a cheerful & lively ambiance with their music, this after party was the perfect finale to the entire soiree.

Tanya's Look

Tanya was sure about two things for her bridal outfit—it had to be a blend of traditional and modern aesthetics and it had to be Anamika Khanna!

Her mesmerizing lehenga was replete with flowers embroidered in French knots and interwoven with intricate zardozi, with each kali hand stitched and detailed with a glorious finesse. A pure work of art, the outfit was breathing in such a regal charisma of its own.

Set in Rubellites and table cut diamonds, her chic yet classy necklace from Raj Mahtani added that perfect pop of hue and distinctive edge to her look.

Neev's Look

Neev, on the other hand, handsomely coordinated with Tanya in an Ivory Rajesh Pratap Singh linen silk weave sherwani marked with tiny gold zari thread embroidery all over. He teamed it up with a pink and gold safa that took his look a notch above!

Tips From The Bride

The best advice I think we can give is to be patient and communicate well. Planning a wedding can be a strenuous and stressful time for the family and especially the couple, which takes its toll.

I think one of the best things that Neev and I did, which is probably why everything went so smoothly and we were actually able to enjoy the process, is that we were constantly communicating very openly about everything. Whether it was something we were happy about or something we didn’t necessarily agree on.
