About The Crimson Bride

Dear Readers,

It was not very long ago that I was planning my own wedding in Australia. Although the wedding itself ended up being some of the most epic days of my life, the planning process was far less fun.

My wedding planning journey, like many others’, was an emotional roller coaster of trying to organise a four-day Indian wedding that would require spending a ridiculous amount of money in less than 12 months, whilst also managing the desires of various family members often living in different timezones.

Moreover, there were limited resources I could draw on for help - there was no central source of relevant style inspiration or advice that spoke to my modern tastes and requirements. Finding trusted local wedding professionals that could execute on my ideas was also difficult. In the end, communicating and working together with over 15 wedding professionals and family members across multiple platforms was not only inefficient but often resulted in costly misunderstandings. I was disheartened that in the 21st century, when we have access to some of the most innovative technologies, there was no customised solution for brides and their families. There had to be a better way!

The Crimson Bride was thus born from the desire to minimise these frustrations for future brides. Starting out as a humble inspiration blog sharing my musings and experiences, The Crimson Bride has now evolved to become an online visual discovery platform that aims to simplify and innovate the way people design their weddings.

In this next iteration of The Crimson Bride, we have spent countless hours thinking about how we can leverage the power of technology to dramatically improve the wedding planning experience for brides. We want to increase the transparency and flow of information by building an online community that can help answer questions like “Where is that lehenga from?” or “How do I get that hair and makeup look?”. We want to help brides connect quickly and easily with the wedding professionals that can help bring their vision and story to life. Above all, we want to make wedding planning the fun and amazing adventure it should be.

This of course wouldn't be possible with you, the users and supporters of The Crimson Bride. I want to thank you all for your continued support and feedback that pushes us to deliver our best. We are however only just getting started, and would love to hear your feedback on the platform and how we can make it better. Please do not hesitate to send me your thoughts, questions or just a hello to simmi@thecrimsonbride.com - I would love to hear from you! Don't forget to join us on on social media @thecrimsonbride as well for endless inspiration.

I truly hope you take the time to enjoy this exciting journey ahead of you and I along with The Crimson Bride Team look forward to helping you every step of the way!

Questions about a service or product are best asked by contacting the Professional directly by going to the Professional’s profile and clicking on the ‘Contact’ button on their page. This will open up a form to send a message to the Professional. You will be notified by email when the Professional responds to your message. Do not reply to the email. Professional Accounts - Portfolios

Potential clients always want to see examples of your work before they choose to even enquire about your services further. As part of your profile, Portfolio allows you to create albums of images or videos of your work. If you are a service providor, we recommend organising Portfolio albums by client and wedding events you have worked on and including at least 6 images or videos in each of them. If you are a designer, we recommend organising Porfolios by your collections. If you are selling a product, we recommend organising your Portfolios by product categories e.g. Bridal Lehengas, Jewellery and Accessories.

Note you must have a Professional Account to create Portfolios. If you have a general TCB user account, you can convert your account to a Professional Account. Sign in to your account, in the sidebar under your profile picture, click the button that says ‘Change to Pro Account’. Follow the instructions and setup your Portfolios under the Portfolios tab.

Portfolios can be found in your Pro Account dashboard. Sign in to your account, go to My Dashboard (accessed by clicking on your username on the top right of any page) and click on the Portfolios tab. Here you will see all the Portfolios you have created and a button to Add a new Portfolio.

Adding the relevant tags and keywords to your images/videos is an important step in helping The Crimson Bride users find you and your Portfolio images or videos.

Here are some guidelines for adding tags and keywords to your image/videos that will help you get discovered more.

  • Tag each unique photo: In the Portfolio upload page, we recommend:
Step 1: Create portfolios with images/videos by Client/Event so it's easier to tag the images in bulk. For service Professionals, we suggest creating portfolios by Client and Event e.g. Neha - Wedding Ceremony. Add the relevant Portfolio level tags (event, stlye, culture, setting) which would apply to every single photo you are uploading into the Portfolio. If a category of tags is not relevant, it's not necessary to add.
Step 2: Add image level tags. Here you add image specific details such as wedding details, colours, other keyword tags, Featured Professionals. Try to at least tag unique images with these image specific tags in details so they are discoverable in the Gallery.
  • Ask yourself: If a user searches for this keyword and finds this photo, will they be confused?
  • List 5-15 keywords per photo
  • Synonyms: Keyword synonyms, such as “saree” and “bridal outfit”. Another example: “waterfront decor”, “beach decor” and “ocean theme decor”.
  • Capitals and punctuation: Capitalisation and punctuation are ignored in search, so it is okay to keyword in lowercase.

Appropriate types of keywords:

  • Materials (silk saree, zari blouse, lace lehenga)
  • Colors, color schemes, patterns (white lehenga, neutral shoes)
  • Size/shape adjectives (rectangular invitations, mini chandelier, small earrings)
  • Style (traditional jewellery, romantic florals, contemporary mandap)
  • Quantities (two candles, four piece bridal set)
  • Unique product features (basket with lid, self-cleaning oven)
  • Products (Indian bangles, candles, anarkali)
  • Specific product information (Sabyasachi lehenga, Amrapali earrings, red and gold benarasi saree) These can also be tagged and listed in more detail in the photo description field.

Inappropriate types of keywords:

  • Keywords that are not relevant or not visible in that specific photo. We regularly monitor each image that is uploaded and tagged on the platform and will promptly remove images that abuse tagging system.
  • Keywords listing pro names, office locations, the pro’s services. The Featured Professionals section at the image level should be used for these.

In order to maintain the quality of The Crimson Bride platform and ensure it is a positive user experience for everyone, we regularly monitor the images that have been uploaded to our platform.

Your images may not appear in the Gallery for one or more of the following reasons:

1. Your image was removed

If the images do not meet our quality guideline we will take action to remove them. We will notify you of the removal and let you know the reason.

  • In good taste

2. Your images appear in the Gallery but not in the Featured section of the Gallery

The default setting for the Gallery page is that 'Featured' images appear first followed by the rest of the images. The Crimson Bride team regularly monitors the images uploaded to our site and marks them as Featured if they meet our quality standards above. To have your work appear as Featured, we recommend uploading high quality images that are inspiring and beautiful for the general users.

3. Your Professional profile is not listed

Only listed professionals can have their images featured in the Gallery. Go to My Dashboard (by clicking on your username at the top right corner of any page). In the sidebar, check whether your profile is at least 40% complete and listed. If it's not, take the recommended action to ensure your Professional profile is listed so your uploaded images appear in the Gallery.

4. You have not tagged your images enough

The Gallery heavily relies on all images / videos being tagged accurately. It's what allows them to be discovered by users who click on the filters on the left sidebar. Check whether your images have been tagged at portfolio and image level to ensure they appear in the Gallery.

If The Crimson Bride is satisfied that the review is justified, the review will not be removed from your profile. Otherwise in cases of a fraud review, we will take immediate action to remove the review.

Bad reviews, however may be unavoidable from time-to-time. The best way to deal with a bad review is to remain professional and see it as opportunity to build your brand. Here are some tips from TCB:

From a Pro’s perspective, Reviews are a key way to build brand credibility on The Crimson Bride. We recommend the following best practice to ensure Pros make the most of Reviews and know to avoid receiving bad review and what to do if you receive one:

1. Proactively request reviews

  • Send review requests as soon as your deliver your services so your service is fresh in the minds of the reviewer.
  • Take control of the review process

2. Communicate to clients that you take reviews seriously.

  • Inform clients that you want to ensure you get a 5 star review and if they feel uncomfortable or unsatisfied at any point of the booking that they inform them straight away so it can be addressed.

3. Respond to all reviews: good and bad

  • Send clients who left good reviews a thank you note or a message.
  • For clients who left a bad review, approach it with grace and professionalism as well.
  • Contact them and clarify any misunderstandings. Clients may be able to change their reviews after speaking with you.
  • Sometimes you may work with clients who you do not see eye-to-eye with. There is not much that can be done about it. However you can control how you respond to the negative review. How you respond to the review will leave a lasting impression on the client and add credibility to your brand despite the negative experience initially.

4. Use reviews to learn from the experience and improve your services. To ensure there are no further negative reviews of your services, take time to reflect on the experience and how you can improve your services for future clients. What kind of 5 star experiences can you offer? Is there a particular area of your service that you could improve on e.g. responsiveness?
