Celebrity Weddings: Soha Ali Khan’s Royal Wedding

By Simmi Singh .

The 2014-2015 wedding season has certainly been busy for celebrities. Not that we’re complaining, by the way. With celebrities embracing social media, we are loving having inside access into the lives of rich and famous! Not to mention, this past season’s wedding fashion has been particularly refreshing and inspiring and will no doubt set the tone for the coming year for brides and wedding guests alike.

The most recent wedding we can’t stop lusting over is our nawabi princess and actress, Soha Ali Khan’s (sister of Saif Ali Khan and daughter of Sharmila Tagore).

Soha married her long time boyfriend and actor, Kunal Khemu in an intimate civil ceremony at home in Mumbai. Despite being a low-key wedding, the celebrations still attracted media attention, while social media accounts of the celebrity guests and the couple themselves provided some of the cutest candid shots of this sweet couple and their wedding!

Here are some things we loved about this celebrity wedding…

1. The vintage rose wedding invitation

The wedding invitation usually sets the tone for the theme of the wedding and Soha and Kunal’s wasn’t too off the mark. The vintage rose themed wedding invitation is simple and elegant. The touch of dull gold adds to the vintage theme.

2. Soha’s Mehendi outfit

For her mehendi ceremony, Soha wore a lovely pink raw skilk Ritu Kumar salwar kameez – reminiscent of Diya Mirza’s own yellow mehendi outfit not long ago. She went with simple hair and makeup and dressed up her look with statement chandbalis (similar to Arpita Khan’s!). Kareena Kapoor also opted for a simple cotton block printed salwar kameez with tribal jewellery.

3. Soha & Kunal nail their wedding looks

We can’t get enough of Soha and Kunal’s wedding outfit. Soha was the perfect Pataudi nawabi princess in a sand gold Sabyasachi’s “million flower booti” lehenga from the Opium collection. The beautiful rust orange veil added some colour to the overall look. We also liked that Soha’s outfit beautifully complemented Kunal’s sherwani – an off-white and gold combination. The couple looked completely in synch.

To complete her vintage bridal look, Soha wore her mother’s beautiful heirloom jewellery – those headpieces and that green beaded necklace are to die for.

Most of all, we love how comfortable, chilled out and happy they look on their wedding day.

For the Reception, Soha and Kunal seemed to have gone for a relatively understated, minimalist look – refreshing from all the heavy pieces that you normally see at receptions. Soha wore a beautiful pink Raw Mango by Sanjay Garg lehenga while Kunal Khemu wore a black Nehru jacket with a khaki white shirt, white pants and a pink pocket square to match his new bride. The brown shoes were a nice touch too!

4. Kareena & Saif Ali Khan are the perfect pair

Soha’s older brother, Saif Ali Khan and his wife Kareena Kapoor were also on point with their looks at each event.

At the mehendi, the couple dressed in a more dressed down casual look.

Their wedding ceremony ensemble was our favourite. Kareena Kappor went for a soft, subtle look with her hair down in a soft wave, wearing a lovely pastel pink and white Manish Malhotra saree – perfect for a morning ceremony and understated enough as the sister-in-law of the bride. Diamond jewels completed her look perfectly. Saif Ali looked every bit the Pataudi prince in his crisp white bandhgala with accents of pink in his pagdi (turban) and pocket square. Such a sophisticated looking couple!

They turned up the glam factor at the Reception. Kareena Kapoor went for mint green and pink Manish Malhotra mirror work lehenga with Saif Ali khan in another bandhgala blue velvet jacket and white jodhpuri pants.

5. Sharmila Tagore as the elegant Mother of the Bride

Sharmila Tagore, still beautiful and elegant as ever at 78, looked radiant in a gold and off white silk saree at the wedding.

Even at the reception Sharmila looked graceful in an orange and gold silk saree coupled with some beautiful statement jewellery.

6. Bollywood Guests at the Reception

The reception appeared to be a fun affair with only an exclusive group of celebrity friends turning up in their best wedding outfits.

Here are some of our favourites including Karisma and Kareena Kapoor in Manish Malhotra.

Amrita Arora in Shantanu and Nikhil with Arpita Khan.

Besties: Karishma and Kareena Kapoor in Manish Malhotra with Amrita Arora in Shantani and Nikhil.

Neha Dhupia in Paya Singhal.

Best friend Konkona Sena in a simple pink, white and gold sare

Malaika Arora Khan in Manish Malhotra.

Karan Johar is dapper in a black and gold sherwani.

Sophie Choudhury in a gold and pink lehenga.
