Getting married is quite possibly the biggest & the most beautiful commitment two people can ever make to each other - but how do you make sure that promise lasts a lifetime?

While for newlyweds, everything in the marriage looks exciting and exhilarating, but we should always remember, a good marriage doesn’t just happen. The actions you take and decisions you make now will influence your future and ensures a long and happy life.

From better communication and love life, here are 10 best marriage tips for every new husband and wife.

1. Never stop dating each other

Setting aside a romantic evening on a regular basis can rekindle the magic of a long-term relationship. It doesn't have to be fancy, just special time for the two of you to remember how and why you first fell in love.

2. Don’t try to change your partner

The biggest mistake is when we try and change the other person. Why don’t we let them be what they really are, and accept them exactly as they are today? Nobody likes to be changed, and it also leads to distance and polarization.

3. A strong marriage is a partnership in trust

Trust your partner in everything, including purchases and financial decisions, and to bring up things with you that need a joint decision.

4. Let go of criticism & blame

Focus on what there is to appreciate rather than blaming each other (Are you listening, Mr. Husband?)

5. Give each other space

Not only men but even women deserve some space and by giving each other that needed space, you make your relationship stronger.

6. For men, it's important to understand that women want to be listened to

Men don't need to solve or fix everything but just listen to their women. Listening to their problems, issues, complaints itself is an exceptional gift for them.

8. Respect each other

One of the most important factors in a good marriage is respect. Respect each other, avoid verbal abuse and insults. The more you respect each other, the stronger your relationship will be.

9. After coming back from work - 'hug each other'

By doing so you remind each other's old/reptilian brains that you are a source of pleasure and comfort. It's simple, it's easy to do, and it will make a world of difference. Also, asking each other about how their day went, will make the other person feel connected.

10. Never go to bed angry

Last, but not the least, never (I repeat) never go to bed angry. If you have any issues, settle them down before going to bed so you wake with a huge smile and a good morning kiss (tried & tested!)

Arguments and fights are inevitable, don’t let them come in between your happy space.
