About The Couple
How They Met
Both Chandrika and Arwinder were working as lawyers when and taking a break from it to something new. While he was all set to go teach English in South America, she was to go work in New York. They met on her first day at his new contract work. Arwinder seemed very nervous as soon as he saw Chandrika for he was oddly bumping into cabinets every time leaving her baffled at the strangeness. They became great mates and after a while he ended up changing his job. He then asked her out on a snow day trip as their first date and within a year they got engaged and married each other next year.
Spilling the beans for us the bride recalls, "I would say we are very fun, adventurous and foodie couple. We love to go out and try new food and places. Our whole relationship has been on this amazing friendship that we built. We are quite opposite to each other but then there is something that just fits perfectly. Arwinder can't speak Hindi and I am big Bollywood fan. He is quite hipster about his coffee and has turned me over to drinking hipster coffee now. It's the change that we bring in each other and openness to new things that I love. I have learnt so much about myself being with him. We love travelling in our spare time and our love for long road trips and coffees have been some great highlights of our relationship. I think we both bring something amazing in each other and with him I feel like I can do anything. For the last three years together, it has been a blissful happy journey and I hope it continues to do so!"
It was to be honest, the most beautiful proposal a girl could ever have. At 3 AM one morning, Arwinder showed up at Chandrika's house with her favorite bagels and flowers. They then drove to Yarra Valley and saw the most breathtaking sunrise in a hot air balloon ride. And it was there itself that he went down on his knees and asked her to marry him. It was so surreal and emotional that they both ended up crying the moment she said yes!
The couple planned the entire wedding themselves taking help from portals like Pinterest, Instagram, The Crimson Bride, and Indian celebrity weddings. Wanting the wedding to be a true personification of them, they both envisioned and planned each and every event carefully with love. Since Chandrika love anything floral, the entire soiree was floral-centric and boasted of mesmerizing floral displays and decor curated together by Ruffles & Bells, Abracadabra Events, Melbourne Event Florals, and Bollywood Mandaps. Capturing the wedding at its gorgeous best, Rolling Canvas Presentations worked their magic yet again, lending hearty photos to be cherished forever.
Hosted at the bride's home, the courtyard was all done in marigold garlands and a rajasthani jhula to curate a timeless and traditional vibe. For her mehndi, Chandrika slipped into a long 3D skirt by Papa Don't Preach which she paired up with striking earrings and a maang tikka. She was glammed up in half open hair, pink eye lids, and a bright pink lip by Lips to Lashes.
A fun affair with an informal look highlighted with a white and pink pastel round arch, the sangeet was hosted at the Seaview Williamstown. For the night Chandrika donned an Anita Dongre ensemble in the hues of green and blue and teamed it up with gorgeous oversized jewels from Free Rani and haathpools from Prune India.
Hosted at Chandrika's home itself with the same marigold decor, the haldi was yet again a vivacious and joyous affair. Chandrika initially wore a yellow lehenga tailored by her friend in Delhi after which she slipped into a mustard yellow Sabyasachi lehenga teaming it up yellow bangles and self-designed pastel green double jhumkis. She did her makeup herself and suited herself with a neat pinned back ponytail.
The Hindu Wedding
The wedding was hosted at the Werribee Mansion and the 'all floral and foliage' rustic mandap was setup right in front of the Mansion. Catering to the royal and pastel theme of the ceremony, even the reception hall was set up with organic floral arrangements.
Chandrika walked down the aisle donning the statement Sabyasachi lehenga and under Baby's Breath phoolon ki chaadar made by Arwinder as a surprise gift for her. Her striking oversized jewellery from Le Khanna Jewellers, haathphools from Free Rani, huge nath from Purab Paschim, and splendid bun florals from Floral Art by Srishti elevated her look by multi-folds. Classic bridal makeup done by Shindy Gill HMUA completed her look flawlessly.
Arwinder, on the other hand, wanted to complement Chandrika and the entire traditional and royal theme of the wedding and was clad head to toe in Gujralsons. He paired his light golden sherwani with a marsala safa and a stole. His shoes, stole, and sword featured the same light floral embroidery that was on his sherwani.
The Sikh Wedding
Hosted at Keysborough Gurudwara, the Anand Karaj too was an all floral affair similar to the Hindu wedding ceremony. Arwinder yet again chose Gujralsons for each and every piece of his look and looked all royal and crisp in an ivory sherwani with gold and blush pink motif embroideries. He wore a pearl mala, a matching blush pink stole and safa to complete his look.
Chandrika, on the other hand, donned a flamboyant peplum style & belted Rimple and Harpreet Narula lehenga in rose gold. She had a red second dupatta trailing behind her. She had ensemble complement splendidly by jewels from Ankita Jewellery, matha patti from Ra Abta by Rahul and her aunt's pahadi nath. Shindy Gill HMUA gave her the perfect glam rose gold makeup.
This event that was hosted at The Luxor was an absolute white floral and lush foliage one with a touch of modern glam.
For the reception, Chandrika donned a bewitching white and brown pearl intricate Manish Malhotra lehenga with caped sleeves. A cascading choker set from Malabar Gold and glam dewy look with a bold burnt orange lip done by Hellana brought about that oomph factor. KXhair Design gave her a wavy hairdo side tucked with a bejeweled hair clip completing the look with sheer class.
- Be kind to yourself. There is immense pressure for brides to be this perfect version of themselves. Often we get so driven by our unrealistic expectations that we forget about the real reason of having a wedding - Love! Don't get too caught up in the details. Take a step back and remember what is important—you are marrying the love of your life!
- Also take care of your mental health as much as your physical health. Brides can get caught up and forget to take care of their mental health. I took bikram yoga, pilates, and swimming to have sometime to myself amongst the crazy wedding planning.
- Most importantly, be in love! Do all things with love and let love drive you to be the best version of yourself on your biggest day of your life!
