A Stylish & Dreamy Wedding Affair
Savina & DJ
Marriages are made in heaven. This phrase seems perfect when it comes to Savina and DJ’s love story. They met at a family wedding, and little did they know that the same occasion would make them feel head over heels for each other.
About The Couple
How did they meet?
They coincidently met at a wedding in December 2012. DJ was travelling from the west coast to the east coast in the US and was due to return back to the UK, a place he calls home. However, he decided to extend his stay in the US and attend the same wedding that Savina and their families were attending.
A while later, they got in touch and it all clicked and they began their long-distance relationship.
The Proposal Story
DJ wanted to surprise Savina with the most perfect proposal ever. A day that she would remember and cherish all her life. It began with him flying down from London without Savina even knowing about it. To keep Savina away from any speculation, he stayed in touch with her over WiFi in the aircraft.
He knew that his lady love would want to look her best when he pops the question, so DJ along with Savina’s sisters planned to send her to get her nails done so that her nails looked perfect when they get clicked with the ring on the finger.
With the entire family involved, DJ popped the question with a classic platinum ring with an oval solitaire at Swaneset Bay Resort and Country Club. The couple later got married at the same location.
When it came to planning the wedding, they chose Ishita Hayer from A Stylist Event. She did a fabulous job and ensured that their big day would be nothing less than a fairy tale. To capture all their special moments, they had Amrit as their photographer, Studio 101 Productions for the cinematography and Decibel Entertainment kept the guest grooving throughout the functions.

Kalire and Choora Ceremony
Punjabi weddings are termed to be the most fun weddings. The Kalire ceremony is the same as the tossing of the bouquet in a Catholic wedding. Savina wore gold customized Kalire that had a special picture added to it and very subtle, yet classy chooras for her Punjabi wedding.
Savina and DJ had decided to have similar themes for the Jaggo party. They kept this occasion colorful and yet very traditional. The bride and grooms Jaggo day were decorated by the Charming Affairs décor and they undoubtedly did a splendid job.
Savina wore a fresh light blue gown with colorful embroidery at the top and ostrich feathers on the sleeves. She purchased this outfit from Aza in Delhi. Her makeup was kept modish, with a lot of glitter and shades of blue. She looked like the modern day princess Jasmine! Her hair was braided on the sides and then let out at the back. She completed her look with earrings that had a maharani on them. Her look was a complete balance of modern and traditional.
While Savina looked like a princess, DJ looked no less than her prince charming as he wore a silver sequin kurta with jeans and boots. He added a traditional touch to his look as he had a turban tied on him.
The wedding was held at the Swaneset Bay Resort and Country Club. They went with a subtle theme of blush and ivory tones. The wedding had a very modern and romantic feel to it. The decorations for this occasion was managed by the Charming Affairs and they did a phenomenal job of managing the whole function, as a high number of guests were expected for the wedding.
For the reception, the couple picked nothing but the best for the decorations as they had Mohani Event Design taking care of every detail and every corner of the location. They went lots of floral and candle arrangements on this day.
They gave it a personal touch by having really nice calligraphy done on the big mirror as the guests entered. The guests were treated with a variety of food like a mixture of meats and seafood, a chocolate fountain, an exciting gol gappa stand, and many others.
Savina looked nothing than a dream in her wedding outfit that was designed by Ali Xeeshan. She chose a subtle color palette with pastel pink, sea green, orange, and gold. Her dupatta was heavily embellished with birds, bright pink flowers and lime green leaves that exceedingly complimented her outfit. She wore a real gold set on the wedding day along with gold bracelets and a nose piece that she purchased from House of Virsa in Surrey, BC. Her passa was bought from Adore by Kanika.
For the wedding, DJ went with an impressive traditional Punjabi attire, as he wore a sea green and gold outfit. What added a personal touch to his look was his kalgi that was made by his sister with immense love.
DJ really dressed to impress!
Without a doubt, the groomsmen looked completely dapper in gold kurtas with sea green scarfs that were similar to what the groom wore and was also custom made, just for them.
For the reception, they went with floral, ivory with a tint of blush. The venue seemed very dreamy with cream and gold interiors along with pink backlighting in the ballroom. The overall feel was very soothing and cozy.
Most Unique Moment From The Wedding
Savina kept it classy as well traditional for her reception with two looks. For the first half of the evening, she wore a long sleeve lace gown that had a long trail attached to it. She paired it with simple diamond drop earrings and glittery Jimmy Choo heels.
Keeping Savina’s look in mind for the reception, Dj wore a three-piece tuxedo that was made in London, UK. He wore a white shirt that was detailed with gold embroidery and gold buttons along with a black silk bow tie that he purchased from Harry Rosen in Vancouver, BC.
Savina and Dj had their first dance on 'My Girl by George Ezra'. This song was chosen by DJ as the couple loved the words of this song and the singer's voice.
