Glamorous Bengali Celebrity Wedding
Bipasha & Karan
Nothing gets us more excited than a beautiful wedding that signifies the coming together of two people, two cultures and two souls. The overwhelming emotions, the personalised touches and the amazing, lust-worthy bridal fashion. It's even more exciting when the celebration of love is a celebrity wedding, and this time it's none other than the stunning Bipasha Basu!
Bipasha Basu (noun); sultry, sensual, super fit. Embodies female empowerment; epitomy of style and grace. When we heard that this Bengali beauty was tying the knot with fellow actor and boyfriend Karan Singh Grover, we could not contain our elation. Overcome with joy that she had found her true love and was about to embark on the extraordinary journey of marriage. Even more, we were exhilarated to see her bridal looks!
Since the announcement of their engagement in early April, we have seen the coming together of a beautifully personalised wedding event that not only reflects who Bipasha and Karan are as individuals but also as a couple. Their celebration and story of love makes your heart melt, but what we love even more is the style choices Bipasha has made (and slayed!) for her wedding events.
We take you through the details so you can start saving them to your Inspiration Board (using the heart icon) for your own wedding planning! As special thank you to the team at The Wedding Story for beautifully capturing the celebrations through images.
Engagement Photo Shoot
We loved these black and white themed engagement photo shoot images that accommpanied their wedding announcement on social media. The photos featured classic romantic shots to more fun moments that's true to their personality.
BIPASHA'S OUTFIT: A white strapless dress with net layers.
ACCESSORIES: A jewelled headband.
HAIR & MAKEUP: Loose curls.
KARAN'S OUTFIT: A dapper black tuxedo.
The Wedding Invitation
The couple also used the super photos from their engagement shoot to create a video to send along with their wedding invitations. We loved that they signed off the invitation with 'monkey love' (Bipasha's nickname for Karan) and two monkey faces that will serve as monograms across their wedding. Simple, fun, fuss-free and definitely sets the tone for their upcoming celebrations!
The wedding celebrations started with a traditional puja at home for close family and friends.
Venue: Bipasha's home.
BIPASHA'S OUTFIT: Bipasha glowed in a beautiful pink and white saree with a 3/4 blouse for a more vintage look.
JEWELLERY: A lovely multi-string kundan set that complemented.

KARAN'S OUTFIT: A crisp white kurta.
Mehendi & Sangeet
The couple had their Mehendi and Sangeet celebrations the day before the wedding and again the ocassion was filled with love and laughter.
VENUE: The event was held at Villa 69, a chic Parisian-style romantic, elegant lounge / bar complete with chandeliers and french provincial furniture.
DECOR: The decor appeared to be in line with the venue's Parisian theme with pastel pink Indian vintage decor. The walls and doors were decorated with pastel pink florals, gota hangings and mogra curtains.
BIPASHA'S OUTFIT: Bipasha went for a soft 'bohemian princess' look in a gorgeous pink classic Anushree Reddy lehenga with a long jacket style blouse.
JEWELLERY: She complemented her outfit with a traditional sat-ladaa, a seven layered necklace crafted in real basra pearls with old periodic pieces of ruby and emerald embellishments with pink and white jadau jhumars engraved in heirloom lotus motifs by Jaipur Jewels. She added floral jewellery including a crown, haath-phool (hand piece), arm-band and anklets for her feet to complete her 'bohemian princess' look.
KARAN'S OUTFIT: Karan kept it simple and suave angrakha kurta set by Antar-Agni and brown shoes. Karan also accessorized with a fragrant gajra (jasmine flower string) bracelet.
The couple had a small Bengali wedding ceremony on the evening of Saturday, 30 April. The baraat arrived with live dhol and Karan entering on a Segway - interesting and great way to add some fun and surprises to the festivities! Bipasha emerged as the beautiful Bengali bride dressed in crimson we were all eagerly waiting for.
VENUE: Banquet hall at St. Regis Mumbai, Mumbai.
DECOR: The floral theme continued at the wedding ceremony with a beautiful floral mandap and backdrop for the ceremony to take place. Bipasha also walked under a flower blanket held up by relatives.
BIPASHA'S OUTFIT: Of course it had to be our favourite Bengali bridal designer, Sabyasachi. Bipasha wore a classic crimson lehenga with gold zari work by the designer. We liked the half sleeve blouse.
JEWELLERY: To add to her bridal look, Bipasha wore a traditional polki bridal set by Kishandas & Co. for Sabyasachi. The statement pieces included a matha patti, jhumka earrings, nose-piece, and a stunning choker necklace. She also wear a pearl haathphool.
HAIR & MAKEUP: Bipasha's hair was up in a pulled-back classic high bun to allow for the dupatta and matha-patti. She completed her classic 'Bengali bride' look with a bold crimson lips, an over-sized red bindi and the red white dots over the eyebrows. The look was balanced out with a classic winged eyeliner and gold eye-shadow. Hair by Madhuri Nakhale and makeup by Anil C.
KARAN'S OUTFIT: Karan again wore a crisp white jacket with dhoti-style bottom and white loafers. The jewelled brooch was a lovely touch.
The celebrations continued at the glamorous and fun reception with a live band, photobooth that incorporated their engagement photoshoot as the backdrop, lots of dancing and fun. Wish we were there!
VENUE: Imperial Hall, St. Regis Mumbai.
DECOR: Working with the gold and white glamorous interior of the venue, the extra decorations were kept to a minimal. To keep with the floral theme, white floral arrangements including an arch at the entrance to add some elegance and charm. Crystal curtains along the walls to match the crystal chandeliers in the room. We also some chic sofa lounges added to add a more relaxed vibe to the occasion.
BIPASHA'S OUTFIT: In line with the theme, Bipasha opted for a beautiful shimmering gold and ivory Sabyasachi lehenga set with a long jacket-style blouse. The piece appeared to be fairly light - perfect for dancing the night away.
JEWELLERY & ACCESSORIES: A 35 layered necklace and earring set in the finest basra pearls and ganthoons, strung with antique jadau pieces and emerald drops by Jaipur Jewels. The emerald added some colour to the monochrome outfit. Bipasha also walked in with a matching Sabyasachi clutch. Hair by Madhuri Nakhale and makeup by Anil C.
HAIR & MAKEUP: Bipasha went for a fuss-free change in hair and makeup for the Reception. She kept her makeup from the wedding which worked well with her outfit - the crimson lips and red bindi stood out against her neutral coloured outfit. For her hair, she simply it down into some glamorous waves. Hair by Madhuri Nakhale and makeup by Anil C.
KARAN'S OUTFIT: Karan continued his white streak with a classic white tuxedo set and black bow-tie. Minimalist yet bold - we love it!
Of course no Bollywood wedding is complete without the star-studded guests and Bipasha and Karan's wedding reception didn't disappoint. Our favourite actors and actresses posed for the camera in chic and elegant pieces that will no doubt serve as inspiration for the upcoming wedding season.
Some of our favourite looks from the Reception included:
Sonam Kapoor in Nikasha and Amrapali: We'll let Sonam Kapoor let her explain the look (from her new app): "Keeping it light and pretty with the sari and silver jewellery and going heavy on the smokey kajal lined eyes to balance the look. Traditional yet modern. A real silver antique bag to finish the eclectic look for Bipasha's shaadi tonight because, well, why not?"
Neha Dhupia in a cape and skirt and Dia Mirza in Shantanu & Nikhil
Malaika Arora Khan in Anita Dongre
Sophie Choudhury in Manish Malhotra
Model Candice Pinto in SVA Couture
Divya Khosla Kumar in Astha Narang
VJ Anusha Dandekar in Falguni & Shane Peacock
