After a lot of speculation and guessing, our style fashionista Sonam Kapoor (now Ahuja) married to her longtime beau, Anand Ahuja in May 2018. The two tied the knot in a series of events in front of their close friends and family and then threw a lavish reception for their industry friends at The Leela, Mumbai. After teasing us with the cutest pictures of Sonam and Anand – hugging, dancing, and traveling with each other, it’s hard to ignore how dreamy they look together at their wedding functions and set major relationship (and outfit) goals for all of us.

About The Couple
The First Date
Recalling her first date with Anand, Sonam shared with Vogue, “I was apparently wearing the worst sneakers he had ever seen. I keep telling him that he fell in love with me despite my bad sneaker game… That day, walking and talking in London, I knew he was the love of my life. He apparently knew the first time we spoke on the phone… It was just so easy.”
The Proposal Story
While we still can't help but relive beautiful moments from the stylish and swoon-worthy wedding celebration of Sonam and Anand, but not much is spoken about ' how Anand proposed to Sonam?'
Well, it wasn't the traditional kind of proposal that every girl dreams of, but surely a super-romantic one.
Recalling the proposal story, Sonam told media - “It was supposed to happen sometime in October but a few months before that we were in New York and this one day I was being a brat having a crappy day. I was complaining about how there was no good person in New York when he was biking and I was walking alongside. The Dolly Ki Doli actor, Sonam Kapoor kicked off wedding celebrations with an intimate Mehendi event at her bungalow in Mumbai.
She wore a gorgeous lavender and dusty pink sharara by Anuradha Vakil and a pair of chandbali earrings by her mother, Sunita Kapoor. Sonam's hair and makeup was by her favourite artist, Namrata Soni and mehendi was by Veena Nagda.
Anand looked classic in a matching pastel pink bandhgala kurta, designed by Raghavendra Rathore.
Sonam and Anand hosted a Sangeet Sundowner for close friends and family at their new Mumbai home. The evening featured dance performances by the Kapoor khandaan, and Sonam’s close friends from the industry.
Sonam and Anand's Sangeet Sundowner decor was unconventional yet classic with off white and mirror details. Malmal drapes, mirror buntings, large champa trees, and the mirror picket fence running along the entire pathway only made the whole place look spectacular and dreamy. Decor was by Rani Pink.
For her Sangeet sundowner party, Sonam wore a mesmerizing beige and gold hand embroidered chikankari lehenga by family favourite, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. The beautiful understated lehenga was embellished with pearls, Swarovski crystals, zardosi, zari and is said to have taken around 18 months to complete. Sonam's delicate jewels were by Sunita Kapoor.
Sangeet Hair & Makeup
Sonam Kapoor's criss-cross braid decorated with gajra was the highlight of her Sangeet look and made us swoon. Her look was minimalistic and classic.
Sonam Kapoor married Anand Ahuja in a traditional Anand Karaj ceremony in an intimate setting at her aunt's home in Mumbai.
The unique wedding decor by Rani Pink was inspired by Jaipur's iconic Bar Palladio Jaipur and complemented with with mogra florals and Jo Malone scents.
The mandap had a watercolor backdrop that doubled up as a photo booth - a new idea for the couples getting married in 2019~
Wedding Bridal Look
The most fashionable woman in India looked nothing less than an absolute dream wearing a timeless crimson lehenga by Anuradha Vaikil, a close friend of Sonam's mother who Sonam had long promised would create her bridal lehenga. Sonam told Vakil she loved lotuses, so the designer translated them into motifs embroidered in gold and silver thread.
Sonam paired her lehenga with a vintage jewellery featuring a heavy choker necklace, haathphool, and antique headgear. These jewels were a collected over years, inherited or created by her childhood friend and Amrapali designer, Tarang Arora.
Sonam's makeup artist, Namrata Soni kept her entire look natural and minimalistic.
Sonam completed her look with ‘dancing peacock’ kaleeras customized by Mrinalini Chandra - that looked simple and trendy!
Wedding Groom Look
Anand Ahuja complemented her with a beige and gold bandhgala designed by Raghavendra Rathore, paired with pink and red necklace.
Cake Cutting Ceremony
Sonam wore a summer-y baby pink outfit by Anamika Khanna for the cake cutting ceremony.
The cake by Le15 Patisserie featured a cute cake topper featuring Sonam dragging Anand off the basketball court in her lehenga.
After the intimate wedding, Sonam and Anand made their first public appearance as husband and wife at their star-studded reception in Mumbai.
Wedding Reception Look
The fashion diva, Sonam opted for a chevron pattern lehenga paired with a grey choli and metallic dupatta designed by Anamika Khanna. While Anand looked dapper in a black and white sherwani.
