About The Couple
How They Met
Sanjana hails from Indonesia basically but moved to India in 2011. Of course, she kept going back every year to meet friends and family but, it was in 2017 when she was attending her friend Resham's wedding where Amrit saw her in a photo. He asked around about her and then slid into her DMs to which Sanjana responded after a couple of months. It was all platonic until she happened to relocate back to Jakarta the same year, and the bride quotes, "the rest is history!"
How They Are Together
Sanjana and Amrit are a very chilled out couple going with the flow. They love being together and doing what they both love like crime and nature documentaries, trying out new restaurants or heading to beaches. In fact, they even enjoy doing their own thing together like while Amrit's busy playing on his PS because he loves football, she'll be busy reading.
The proposal was as romantic and adorable as it could have gotten. Sanjana shares, "Amrit proposed to me on my birthday in November 2018. He basically told me it was a birthday trip, and we went to Bali for 3 nights. It was pretty typical of us so I didn’t suspect a thing! He took me to the Mandapa, Ritz Carlton in Ubud for a beautiful private dinner by the river and rainforest—beautiful set-up, candles, and wine! I still thought it was a birthday dinner until the ring showed up in my dessert!"
Sanjana and Amrit's wedding celebrations were exactly as the couple wanted—something like they'd never seen before. Working along with the team of ace planners Innaz Communique, they together put up a wedding that was a life in itself. Together with Steve Decor curating themed decorations that were a treat to the eyes, Dandit Inc. further elevating it with the right lighting, and Queens Tandoor satiating every tummy's desires, they pulled off the grand Samba Wedding phenomenally
The nuptials that were hosted across the plush properties of The Apurva Kempinski and The Westin in Bali were captured by the exceptional team of DotDusk known for capturing moments skillfully and in their truest essence.
What completed the wedding in a top-notch manner were undoubtedly the couple looks. While the couple looked all hep and royal in suave designer outfits, Sanjana was a sure shot head turner in her stylish ensembles, heirloom jewellery, flawless makeup by Natasha Moor and graceful hairdos by Herman Hairdo.
Samba Night & Favela - Welcome Dinner & After Party
The night hosted at The Apurva Kempinski was one happening party and the perfect trailer of the flamboyance to follow for the next couple of days. A Brazilian themed outdoor welcome dinner with samba dancers, feathers, and lots of glitz and glam was followed by the after party in the ballroom. The after party too was themed the same.
For the night while Amrit opted for a classic yet peppy look in a Gaurav Gupta suit, Sanjana slipped into a strappy lavender Natasha Dalal fitted gown with detachable over skirt replete with dainty crystal work. Dainty diamond jewels, subtle makeup, and open wavy tresses flawlessly glammed up her look.
The next morning was the day for Amrit's Ghari ceremony the decor for which was done in blossoming florals and was themed white and gold.
On the other hand, Sanjana's mehndi was simple and in her room where henna artist Barbie Ima etched the couple's entire love story on her palms.
The Sangeet Night
Hosted at The Westin, the Sangeet was one lavish jazzy night of performances along with back-up dancers, unstoppable feet, and glamour. The stage was blazing with LED screens that set the tone like an awards night.
For the glam night, Sanjana slipped into a breathtaking Suneet Varma ice blue lehenga laden with silver embellishments adding to her bridal radiance by multi folds. Striking diamond jewellery, luscious wavy locks, and subdued makeup amped up her look splendidly.
Amrit complemented Sanjana's ice blue with his navy blue Kunal Rawal ensemble paired up with a silver stole.
Set against the oceanic backdrop under the vast skies, the majestic gold mandap with green curtain drapes made the entire ceremony look royal as ever. The aisle lined with white floral and lush green arrangements added that oomph factor to the entire setup.
Feeling all princess-y and walking down the aisle under a heavy flower and pompom phoolon ki chaadar, Sanjana looked regal in her striking gold and bronze metallic Sabyasachi lehenga. While she wore a spectacular multi-stringed polki neckpiece with dainty earrings and maang-tikka, she went with a high bun, light bronze eyes, and nude lips.
Amrit wore an ivory Sabyasachi sherwani teamed up with an embroidered marsala shawl, stunning necklaces, and a matching safa.
Bridal Party Look
Because Amrit and Sanjana were adorned in royal colors of ivory, gold, and bronze, she opted for lavender and green colors for her bride tribe. She gave them printed fabric for for their tops and and plain fabric for the bottoms and asked them to get anything they wanted to be stitched but using only those colors. The result was fresh and stunning contrasts.
The Hip Hop After Party
It was themed so because both Sanjana and Amrit are huge fans of old school RNB vibe. It was hosted in the Kempinski ballroom that was transformed into an old school underground hip hop club from New York and was marked with the couple's grafitti. The DJ console and the stage were made to look like a stereo.
For the night, Sanjana wore a Nitya Kishore hot mini dress with frilly trail teaming it up with poker straight hair, huge hoops, dramatic eyes, and pale lips. Amrit, whereas, complemented her in a casual ensemble.
The next day kickstarted with a relaxed and chiller pool party curated in hues of yellow and white to complement the natural green and the sky and pool's blues. Massages, dancers, and fun cocktails added happily to the fun tropical vibes of the day.
While Amrit kept it all casual, Sanjana donned an easy breezy Gauri & Nainika dress in splendid hues pairing it up with statement earrings and tied up hair.
The reception was the definition of glamour with shimmer, silver, black, and red to bring about the Oscar like feels—magnificent and luxe. The start studded bash was the perfect grand finale one could expect from 'The Samba Wedding'.
For as charismatic and voguish the event was, the couple's looks matched up the vibe marvelouslly. While Amrit looked debonair in a dynamic Gaurav Gupta tux, Sanjana looked entrancing in an embellished and asymmetrical hemmed Shantanu & Nikhil gown with half-tied hair, bewitching diamond jewellery and glam makeup..
Wedding Shopping Tips From The Bride
- It's okay to not know what you’re looking for before hand!
- Always, always, always “try it on”. You must always try. Even if you’re unsure of the color or the cut - try it on! You might be surprised!
- Don’t shop when you’re in a bad mood or grumpy or upset that you didn’t find anything today as it will really affect the way you look at yourself in the mirror and you’ll end up disliking everything even if it looks great!
- When discouraged, always stop for a quick drink and some insane food. Forget about your crazy diets, have comfort in knowing you are beautiful no matter what, remember, it’s about how YOU feel in the outfit and not anyone else! So work it, and own it and if it feels like its yours, it is!
