About The Couple

Their Tale

Ashima & Akhil met each other nine years back in college and quickly became best friends. However, it wasn’t until after college that they realized their love for each other and haven’t looked back ever since.

As a couple, like the bride says, they epitomize friendship and have a pact to always be best friends before lovers. The two have been in a super long distance for the last three years as Akhil moved to USA and it was exactly this distance that made them take the plunge and get married.

Ashima further connotes, “People say that long distance is very difficult to sustain but with our compatibility and understanding, we made it seamless. With our level of experience at an ultra-long distance, we can practically write a book on ‘100 tips for acing the long-distance game’! 😊

The Details

Wedding Planning & Details

Ashima and her sister planned the entire wedding from the scratch. Be it creating inspiration and mood boards, maintaining comprehensive excel sheets and budget plans or doing venue recces, planning decor or entertainment, they envisioned and knitted everything.

Komal from The Indian Bridesmaid entwined the sisters’ vision and her expertise phenomenally to curate a decor and bedeck D Imperia Hotel, New Delhi in a flamboyantly classy manner.

Furthermore, the lens of Beginnings For You captured the entire soiree at its aesthetic best giving frames worth gushing over.

The first two days of the soiree began on an intimate and chilled out note with a mehndi ceremony at home and a bridesmaids and couple shoot at a farmhouse in Ghitorni.

They were followed by a happening engagement-cum-sangeet night which was all about having fun, partying, and dancing like there’s no tomorrow!

While fairy lights marked the entire space, the stage done in cascading white blossoms, greens, and miniature bulbs was a remarkable highlight.

Ashima's Look

For the evening, Ashima looked resplendent in a striking blue velvet lehenga by Matsya. While her lehenga embellishments glimmered, her gorgeous cascading chandbaali earrings and maang-tikka from Nayirah added that extra oomph to it!

Sahil Malhotra gave her soft blushing look with a pale lip, kohl lined eyes, and a bindi and left her hair half open.

Akhil's Look

Akhil gracefully complemented Ashima in a navy Diwan Saheb bandhgala and dhoti which he accessorized with a pearl mala.

Haldi Ceremony

Done in hues of yellow and pink and accessorized with marigolds, Rajasthani puppets, pastel-hued florals, and colorful tassels, the haldi was a riot of laughter and all things yellow.

Ashima's Look

Ashima, for her haldi, slipped into a simplistic yellow saree and further accentuated her look with yellow and blue bangles, and decent floral jewellery.

Sundowner Pheras

For the enchanted forest themed ceremony, a whimsical all green mandap festooned with branches, fresh blooms, and miniature bulbs was setup in the hotel’s lawns. While the decor truly was a breathtaking sight to behold, the fun, hearty laughs, and love filled air were beyond perfect to revel in.

Ashima's Look

For her pastel themed wedding, Ashima decided to shine in a bewitching bright pink lehenga by Anarkali. She teamed it up with a stunning tiered chaand polki set from Fashion Zone by Preeti Makhija.

Pooja Khurana gave her a flushed look along with a mauve lip and stunning smokey eyes while having her hair tied back in a neat floral bun.

Akhil's Look

Akhil went all classic in his Ivory Manyavar sherwani that he paired up with a red safa and a three stringed mala looking super crisp and dapper.

Reception Dinner

The pheras were followed by a regal and classy reception dinner in the hotel’s hall where the couple made their entry to the tunes played by a fauji band from Ashima’s father’s unit.
