About The Couple

Their Tale

Radha and Ankit met back in 2010 in India while shopping for a family wedding. They flirted throughout the wedding but decided to not take this ahead as Radha didn’t want to get into a long distance relationship once she goes back to the US. But, like they say, “the heart wants what it wants”, they couldn’t keep themselves away from each other as they had become best friends. And hence, began their journey together with all things beautiful but, coupled with fights, breaks, & flings in between.

In 2016, Radha decided to speak to her parents about Ankit but, they couldn’t be convinced and so, Ankit decided to break it off as he valued her relationship with her parents more.

After almost two years of trying to move on, Radha ended up ringing Ankit out of nowhere which got them talking and Ankit taking a flight to New York to meet her. It led to all those feelings resurfacing leaving them both sad & confused. Before leaving, Ankit left Radha a letter that said, “If given a chance now, I would fight harder.” She mustered up the courage and spoke to her parents again, only this time they took it well and decided to go visit Ankit & his family in UK. And of course, the rest is history.

The two are way too comfortable in their own skins and while he loves staying in and watching TV, she loves being out and about. However, finding a middle ground wasn’t difficult which also allows them to do what the other person likes, together.

The Proposal

Ankit was very spontaneous with his proposal and even though Radha got some hints, he still took her by surprise because she had no idea that he’d pop the question so soon. After Radha & her family’s trip to UK, Ankit flew down to New York and he took Radha to try out a few rings to see what would suit her. Their jeweller in Diamond district, Manhattan, mentioned that he can have the diamond put in a setting in less than 24 hours. And that’s when Ankit thought, “Why wait? I’m going to propose tomorrow!”

And so, he went down on his knees, made a romantic speech in front of hundreds of people in Times Square, and asked her to marry him!

The Details

Wedding Planning & Details

Hosted at the bride’s hometown, Gujarat, this destination wedding was grand, exuberant, and oozing with a flamboyant vogue that was hands down unparalleled. While Radha took to Instagram and online portals to create her inspiration boards, it wasn’t until she got in touch with Anuj Malik from Velvet Events and Aashka Gehlani from Open Window, that her ideas got a vision.

The two teams were the perfect allies that the duo needed to plan and deck up their wedding and boy, they fashioned it in a way that left everybody amazeballs.

The Ami Video worked the charm of their lens and captured the soiree in its truest and choicest essence and were the perfect cherry on top!

Bride's Home Mehndi

The revelries kicked off with the bride getting her mehndi done at the comfort of her home itself while her friends came over for lunch to keep her company.

For her look, Radha picked up a multicolored tunic from JigyaM with mirror and shell detailing. She teamed it up with a huge silver necklace, kept her makeup simple, and had her hair tied up in a bun!

The Mehndi-Sangeet

The evening mehndi and sangeet ceremony was hosted at the Nandanbaug Farmhouse, Anand and was centered around an easy-breezy Moroccan lemon garden theme.

Done in refreshing hues of yellows, greens, blues, and Ivory, the entire decor was heavily marked in lush greens and lemons. Be it the entrance, the printed stage, or the canopies and seating lounges, every single element was adorned with heavy foliage and lemons for a rejuvenating feel.

Radha's Look

To complement the evening’s modern decor, Radha chose to slip into a breathtaking white JigyaM lehenga with dainty mirror work and silver gota patti work all over. She teamed up her outfit with an edgy blue choker done in polki and basra pearls with matching earrings.

Devanshi from Blush Salon tied up Radha’s hair in a neat Baby’s Breath accentuated bun while giving her soft shimmery eyelids and a comparatively dark lip for a romantic & chic look.

Ankit's Look

Ankit, on the other hand, slipped into a deep red kurta and long bandhgala jacket ensemble from Kora looking equal parts casual and dapper.

Grah Shanti & Haldi

These pre-wedding rituals were hosted at the Vidhi Party Plot, Anand and the decor was themed around all things yellow and marigold.

While an all marigold and foliage wall made for the haldi backdrop, the hues of pastel yellow made for the guests seating amped up with printed cushions and chair drapes.

Radha's Haldi Look

Jigya Patel curated for Radha a vivacious orange gharara set drenched in pretty mirror work with a matching printed dupatta. She paired up her outfit with mirror work juttis and a dainty choker set with matching earrings and a maang-tikka.

She suited herself with a natural and no-makeup look and had her hair done in a gorgeous braid.

The Royal Wedding

Hosted at the Madhuban Resort & Spa, Anand, the decor looked like it was straight out of a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie. A palace like arch carved panel entrance done in beautiful fabric welcomed the guests into the royalty that lay ahead.

While beige and gold couch seating lounges spread gloriously across the lawns, pretty floral arrangements and cascading tuberose garlands added to the vibe.

A floral vessel lined aisle led up to the open cut work mandap that boasted of a balcony on top where all their friends could stand and shower the couple with flowers during the pheras.

Radha's Wedding Look

Radha for the day, went traditionally contemporary with her look as Jigya designed for her a bewitching wine lehenga that boasted of colorful appliques and thread embroideries, mirrors, and sequins. The intricate arch shaped paneled work on her lehenga and the belt with Radha’s named embroidered in Gujarati literally grabbed all eyeballs.

Radha went all heavy with her jewellery that was a blend of polki & ruby choker set, a long basra pearls haar, a dainty pearl nath, and an elaborate matha-patti!

Darshana from The Color Drama gave her a Baby’s Breath and purple Orchids bun along with flushed cheeks, light gold shimmery eyes, and a pale mauve lip.

Ankit's Wedding Look

Ankit suited himself with a cream Lucknowi Sherwani from Telon which he paired up with a stole designed by JigyaM to match Radha’s outfit. A matching safa was the perfect finishing touch to his look!

Tips From The Bride

  • Don’t pick delicate bands for your ring. They do bend and are not practical if you’d be wearing it everyday. And if you do pick a thin band, go with white gold instead of Platinum.
  • You’ll hear this from everyone and it’s a cliche but it is SO true- be in the moment. Stop stressing over the details the day your festivities begin. In the end no one will remember what went wrong. Spend time with your friends and family. You won’t get those days again.
  • Start your skin care 3 months before your big day. Stay hydrated. Exercise and eat clean.
  • Do put in time and effort into details..but way advance of the wedding. Things do run smoothly if you’ve planned
it right. You WILL fight with your partner and your relationship may get tested but just remember you’ll get through it. Find a compromise and do consider what they want. It’s his wedding too! 😛
