About The Couple

Their Tale

Simran was working at Kanika’s 16th birthday party when he saw her for the first time. They connected after two years on Facebook and had a mutual friend who knew that Simran had a crush on Kanika so he got them to meet. And there began their story of never ending love and togetherness. They both love to try food at new and different restaurants, travelling, watching movies, and hanging out with their friends.

The Proposal

Simran always knew that Kanika wanted her family to be around when she would be proposed to and somewhere outside of NYC. About two years ago they were in Phuket, Thailand celebrating Kanika’s bua & uncle’s 25th anniversary where he proposed to her in the villa they were staying at amidst everybody. It was a super romantic proposal followed by a personal chef cooking dinner for them and as Kanika says, “I absolutely loved the ring he got me.”

The Details

Wedding Planning

Kanika & Simran’s wedding was a grand yet intimate affair with every event themed differently. Since they both live in the USA, they tried to incorporate a lot of culture and elements from there to give their wedding a modern and non-traditional twist as they wanted to do something different from the typical Delhi wedding. The couple rather chose not to work with a wedding planner and instead, did it all by themselves along with Rajiv Makin & Associates and their family and relatives who are in the hospitality business. With inspiration from Pinterest and Instagram infused with their envisioned ideas, they curated the wedding of their dreams phenomenally.

Topping it off with eye-pleasing frames and effervescent photos, the team of Kapture Studios worked at their creative best and in an unparalleled fashion.

Sagan-Chunni

Hosted at the Zorba, in a traditionally intimate and elegant manner, the ceremony was a warm and cozy affair to kickstart their revelries with. The team of Zorba decked up the lush lawns with lanterns, lights, and fresh flowers all over.

The Looks

For the evening, Kanika slipped into a blingy Abhinav Mishra lehenga in his statement mirror work. A gorgeous pink skirt with an ivory floral top and a sheer scalloped dupatta, Kanika’s outfit was truly dreamy. Keeping her jewellery minimal with a diamond set and tennis bracelet, Guru gave her glam eyes with a nude face and Dablu Kumar gave her open wavy hair.

Simran, on the other hand, wore a bottle green kurta-pajama with a cream nehru jacket.

The Cocktail

The sagan and chunni ceremony was converted into the cocktail indoors giving it a more lounge-like feel. The vibe for the night was a perfect blend of formal yet glamorous and intimate yet extravagant. The cuisine spread was vast and included Kashmiri and Hyderabadi food too.

While Kanika slipped into a chic Ridhi Mehra skirt and feathered top ensemble in hues of pink with a pair of diamond earrings, Simran donned a classic blue achkan with black Louboutins.

The Mehndi Ceremony

The fun and romantic mehndi ceremony were hosted at the Bellamonde, Chattarpur, and the venue was decked up by their team itself in a traditional and pastels theme. While camels and Rajasthani dancers welcomed the guests at the entrance, the indoors were jazzed up by the band Tamasha and mehndi artists.

Hookahs along with fire bartenders & signature cocktails, live choodi and floral jewellery making stalls, #kaniKAsim hashtag decking the pool, floral jhula, and loads of lights set the tone for the ceremony.

The Mehndi Looks

Wanting to wear a traditional look, Kanika wore a cream and black Abhinav Mishra gharara done in mirror work which she paired up with a stunning maang-tikka, earrings, and a statement ring. While Guru gave her minimal makeup with light brown eyes, Dablu Kumar left her hair half open with side braids.

Simran, on the other hand, wore graceful yellow Sabyasachi kurta set laden with beautiful florals.

The Wedding

Themed around pastels and florals, the evening wedding at the Bellamonde, Chattapur was simply a romantic and elegant affair with live shehnai and shanqh.

Doing away with a traditional vidaai, the couple took off in a florally decked up Royal Enfield with a sidecar.

Kanika's Look

Kanika’s wedding day look has been doing the rounds of the internet for a while now and people have been gushing over her sartorial choices. She slipped into a splendidly embellished rose gold Sabyasachi belted anarkali with a net dupatta looking absolutely ravishing. She teamed her outfit with a small red bindi, huge gold maang-tikka and earrings with lightweight kaleeras.

While Dablu opted for a neat bun adorned with gajras, Guru gave her a nude face with soft yet dark smokey eyes.

Simran's Look

Simran whereas, wore a crisp cream Sabyasachi achkan with a light pink shawl and matching safa looking all dapper and royal.

The Reception

After their super cool vidaai on an Enfield, the entourage moved indoors for the reception dinner. The decor was all white and gold with a romantic touch of florals. Not opting for the conventional stage and instead going around and mingling and taking pictures with everybody, the couple yet again did something unconventional.

For the dinner Kanika simply changed her hair from a bun to open poker straight and ditched her maang-tikka and dupatta.
